Housing Corporation of Arlington Financial Education Courses
Leader Bank collaborated with the HCA this Spring by providing financial education classes to the participants of their Homelessness Prevention Program. Many low- and moderate-income Arlington families struggle to make ends meet - especially with the ever-rising housing costs and wages that don't keep up. The Homelessness Prevention Program (HPP) was created in 2001 to provide financial support to Arlington residents facing a housing crisis, offering grants to help individuals stabilize their situations and maintain their housing. The program covers back rent, security deposits, or moving costs for a new home The Leader Bank classes provided foundational education including basic money management, using checking and savings accounts, budgeting, first-time homebuyer guidance, and fraud prevention. These classes will be provided on a consistent quarterly basis. Staff from Leader Bank's Elevate Banking, Community Development, Residential Mortgage, and Fraud and Security Teams were part of this series. Topics will vary depending on the request of HCA and its participants.
